party hosting: games (part 2)

patriotic party ideas

The only thing I truly worry about every time I have a birthday party is if my guests will have fun. That’s the most important thing to me. Now, my friends and I are pretty chatty but I’d like to do more than just sit and talk for a few hours. But those games can’t be too structured or boring; do you see my predicament? 😉 So I did more exploring and came up with these that I think will be fun and get lots of enjoyment!

1. Holiday Sticker Stalker

A great game to keep everyone on their toes, but not for the paranoid party-goer. Everyone at the party has 10 holiday stickers and must get rid of the whole sheet by sticking them to the other guests without them noticing. If someone catches you, they can stick one of his/her stickers on you. First one to empty their sticker sheet wins!

2. Camera Hot Potato
Set the self-timer and the game begins. Each player must hold the camera at arm’s length and point it at themselves very briefly (like a selfie), before passing it on to their left. Keep going, until eventually the camera goes off with a flash of light.

3. Cracker
At the start announce the simple objective, which is to remove your hat, and not to be the last. The only rule is that no one can take their hat off until you have. Let another game or conversation take place, and as time goes by, people will take their attention off you, and even forget the game is happening. Eventually remove your hat and watch as people notice. Gradually the hats will come off, amidst sniggers and smirks.

Some unsuspecting person (who’s probably busy boring everyone with a story) will be the last to notice: this person is the loser. Serve up an appropriate forfeit (see our forfeits page), get the hats back on and give the loser the chance to start the next game.

4. Mafia
If you have enough people and the time to play, this one will quickly become a cult favorite amongst your friends – especially if you have a charismatic and animated moderator to keep things original and move things along. Read the full directions onwikihow.com

I think I might invite my friends over just to play these games and eat some fantastic food!

This is the second part of my party hosting series. See Part 1 to get some party ideas! And part 3 and 4.
